About Coeliac Disease

Coeliac Disease is on the rise due to better diagnosis and greater understanding of this sometimes difficult to detect illness. This disease is an illness that shows the bodies inability to absorb gluten – the protein from wheat. It can develop at any age from 6 months to 90 years, and it affects one in 70 people in Australia. However, it is believed that up to 80% of this population have yet to be diagnosed! Coeliac Disease has detrimental long-term effects to our health, and a gluten-free diet is the only recognised treatment.
