Jo entered our June / July birthday cake competition and included the following recipe pictorial for cake pops. We loved it and think it’s worth sharing. Here it is..

Jo – “We’ve had 3 in our household diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in the last 8 months so it’s all a bit new to us. My daughter who has just turned 4 was the first to be diagnosed and her birthday party was used to prove to me that a fully gluten free party is easy, fun and tasty. It was also a way to educate our friends on the food we can eat. My 2 year old and I also have coeliac disease.

Of course with any 4 year old, the cake is the most exciting part. That’s where the cake mix came in very handy – guaranteed to be yum! I’ll admit I had a practice go at making these cake pops as it was my first attempt at them but my daughter was happy with the result. I hope you are too. I’m sure that any of your cake mixes could be used for these.

  1. Choose cake mix.

  2. Make cake according to instructions on box.

  3. Once cooked leave it to cool completely, then crumble into a bowl.


  4. Make icing as instructed on box in separate bowl

  5. Add icing to the crumbled cake (I used about 2/3 to ¾ of the icing mix).

  6. Roll into balls (about 30grams each)  or desired shape and put into fridge or freezer for about 1/2hr.

  7. Melt chocolate.


  8. Dip sticks about 1cm into chocolate then put into cake balls. Do this for all the cake balls.

  9. Dip cake balls into chocolate to cover (I use a spoon to help drizzle the chocolate over the cake balls otherwise the cake balls may fall off the stick).

  10. Decorate as desired.

Well and Good has done it again! An instant custard powder that is free from dairy and egg. Available NOW!

This instant custard Powder doesn't need cooking. Just add water. And you won't believe the taste. You wouldn't know this custard is any different to the dairy and egg custards available.

There are 3 different recipes on the pack - make a delicious custard tart, vanilla slice and pouring custard. Use our Premium Biscuit Mix to make the tart shells for the custard tart; or our Swiss/Sponge Roll Mix to make sponge sheets for a scrumptious vanilla slice. The pouring custard is truly versatile, and you can add a dash of brandy to make a perfect accompaniment for your Christmas pudding.

This custard is 97% fat free.
