Vanilla Slice

This product is Gluten free, Wheat free, Soy free,  Dairy free, Tree Nut free, Peanut free, Egg free, and also with no Trans Fats

Ingredients
Makes 
12 Slices

Vanilla custard filling:

  • 1 packet (250g) Instant Custard Powder
  • 700 mL water
  • 2 tblsp oil of choice

Pastry/Sponge sheet

Use our Sponge Cake Mix or Swiss Roll Mix (sponge sheet) for the base.

1 packet of Sponge/Swiss Roll Mix and 1 packet of instant custard powder makes 1 dozen vanilla slices 50mm x 90mm

Method

Method:

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl with an electric mixer for 1 – 2 minutes on high speed.
  • Spread evenly at the desired thickness onto a sponge or pastry sheet.
  • Firmly press a second sheet on top of custard layer.
  • Allow to set for 20 – 40 minutes before slicing.
Additional Tips

Tip:    Dust icing sugar on the top

Optional: If desired, replace half the water with milk for a smoother consistency.

            Product is suitable for freezing.
